Bob McDonald, COO

Bob McDonald brings over 30 years of expertise in all areas of hotel, resort, food & beverage, and conference center management. He has served for many years as a Vice President of Operations for several of the top management companies in the nation. In addition, he was an award-winning General Manager of resorts, branded hotels, and independent boutique hotels.

Bob has successfully developed, opened, converted, and transitioned properties, and has a long track record of leading hotels into strong financial performance, and recognition for service and quality award-winning performance. His experience includes working closely with Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, and IHG, as well as independent hotels.

He is also the current Chairman of the Board for the Pamplin Business School’s Hospitality and Tourism School at Virginia Tech and a member of Hilton’s Circle of Leadership. In addition, he has been teaching for 15 years as a professor of Hospitality Management for the University of Missouri. This background has helped him develop future GMs and high-achieving hotel teams that are still winning awards today in service and quality.

Bob stays grounded being a proud father to four amazing kids. In addition, he spends time giving back at food pantries, and working on fundraising initiatives that affect research into those diseases that have taken members of his family. He enjoys time with the youngest of his children, mountain hiking, beach excursions, and the occasional 5K race.

Bob holds a BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Virginia Tech. In addition, he has a BA in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from the Caesar Ritz College in Switzerland.
